$5,655,507 in IRWM grant funds have been awarded to our Region.  Learn more about the grants and projects below!

The future of grant funding is transitioning to Climate Resilience.  Additional information can be found at DWR's Watershed Resilience Program website.

Proposition 1 Implementation Round 2

On May 5, 2023 our region was awarded $1,4,88,961 for the County of Monterey Carmel River Floodplain and Environmental Enhancement project and the City of Monterey Olivier Street Stormwater Diversion project.  Both projects are in the pre-construction phase.

Proposition 1 Implementation Round 1

Our region was awarded $2,238,904 for the City of Seaside Del Monte Manor Low Impact Development Improvement in a Disadvantaged Community, City of Sand City West End Stormwater Improvement in a Disadvantaged Community, and Marina Coast Avenue Coe Avenue Recycled Water Pipeline projects.  Both Disadvantaged Community projects were identified in the Disadvantaged Community Involvement Grant funded Needs Assessment.

The Coe Avenue Recycled Water Pipeline and Del Monte Manor, now Hamilton Ellis Martin Plaza, Low Impact Development Improvement projects are complete.

 

Proposition 1 Disadvantaged Community Involvement

On November 4, 2014, California voters approved Proposition 1, the Water Quality, Supply, and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014.

The Disadvantaged Community Involvement Program is designed to ensure the involvement of disadvantaged communities and economically distressed areas (EDAs) in IRWM planning efforts. 

Our region was awarded $435,685 for the MPWMD Disadvantaged Community Needs Assessment, MPWMD High Efficiency Appliance Retrofit Targets, and City of Monterey Franklin Street Stormdrain projects.  All projects are complete and the Needs Assessment directly resulted in identifying two Disadvantaged Community projects for Implementation Round 1 funding.

Proposition 84

The Safe Drinking Water, Water Quality and Supply, Flood Control, River and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2006, was approved by California voters in the general election on November 7, 2006. 

Our region was awarded a planning grant in the amount of $995,000 for an ASBS Feasibility Study of Alternatives Management Plan Update, IRWM Plan Update, Canyon Del Rey Master Drainage Plan Update, San Jose Creek Watershed Assessment, Seaside Groundwater Basin Salt and Nutrient Management Plan, Streamflow Data Collection project, Scenic Road Protection and Preservation with Proposed Carmel River Lagoon Ecosystem Protective Barrier Feasibility, Steelhead Passage Barriers Assessment, and a Surface and Groundwater Model for the Carmel Valley Alluvial Aquifer projects.

Proposition 50

The Water Security, Clean Drinking Water, Coastal and Beach Protection Act of 2002, Water Code Section 79500, et seq., was passed by California voters in the November 2002 general election.

Our region was awarded a planning grant in the amount of $456,957 Stormwater Discharges to the Pacific Grove and Carmel Bay ASBSs Feasibility Studies, completion of the IRWM Plan, ASR Expansion planning, Carmel River Management Plan Update, Carmel River Parkway Planning, Carmel River Lagoon Barrier Beach Management Options Evaluation, Flood Prone and Erosion Prone Area Identification, and Wetlands Enhancements and Creation projects.
