Action Items

1.         Receive Minutes of June 22, 2011 Committee Meeting

On a motion by Doyle and second of Brower, the minutes were approved unanimously on a vote of 3 – 0.  No public comment was directed to the committee on this item.

2.         Review Preliminary Draft Ordinance Amending the Rebate Program and Provide Direction to Staff

The committee members agreed with the proposal to increase the rebates for High Efficiency Clothes Washers to $500 and Commercial High Efficiency Clothes Washers to $1,000.  In addition, rebate recipients must agree to install the fixture on the property listed on the application and attest to the information on the application under penalty of perjury.  There was also consensus that the rebate for installation of synthetic turf should be abandoned.   It was suggested that staff investigate establishment of a rule requiring that if a high efficiency clothes washer were to be installed in a rental unit, the purchaser must agree that the fixture would remain on site for three years in order to receive the rebate.  District staff would report to the directors by email as to the opinions of Realtors and the Monterey Commercial Property Owners Association on establishment of a requirement for rentals, and on what percentage of residences in the District are rentals.
