SUMMARY: A special statewide election was held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The ballot included an election for Directors in Voter Division 2. The results of the election were that Judi Lehman was elected to serve her third term as representative to Division 2. Director Alvin Edwards was the only person who filed for candidacy in District 1, therefore, in compliance with State Elections Code section 10515 he was appointed to his fourth term by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors on September 1, 2009.

Attached as Exhibit 2-A is Resolution 2009-12, A Resolution of the Board of Directors of the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District Certifying the Results of the November 3, 2009 Election. The results of the election are included as Attachment 1. The order of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors appointing Alvin Edwards to Division 1 is included as Exhibit 2-B.

RECOMMENDATION: District staff recommends adoption of Resolution 2009-12.
