SUMMARY: A list of topics to be covered in the summer edition of the MPWMD quarterly newsletter is shown below. The goal is to begin distribution of the newsletter on June 17, 2013. The newsletter will be distributed by email. Copies will also be available at the District office, handed out at meetings, and provided to applicants when staff conduct property inspections.

Page 1: Cal-Poly design teams/Governance Committee – Role of Cal-Poly design teams. Photo of teams. Provides opportunity for students. MPWMD coordinating committee efforts and maintaining committee web page. Provide link to recording of the meeting when project designs were presented.
Educational programs staff participates in – Photo of Thomas Christensen making presentation to children. Staff knowledge of river issues. Contact MPWMD if you need a speaker.
Students hired as temporary seasonal workers – Photo of students. MPWMD provides educational/work opportunity. Fish rescues featured.
Page 2: Focus on current water supply situation -- Activity on desal, ASR, GWR. No need for mandatory water cutbacks despite low rainfall. Keep conserving. Include MPWMD monitoring of water levels to ensure required river flow for fish. Photo of monitoring.
Photo of Ord 152 committee at ASR site – focus on role of reviewing water supply charge expenditures, and their agreement with our plan for future water supply project related expenditures. Note committee formed by action of our Board.
RECOMMENDATION: The committee should review and comment on the newsletter topics.
