Monterey Peninsula Water Management District

Public Outreach Committee

May 24, 2010

 

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 4 p.m. in the District conference room.

Action Items

1.         Receive Minutes of March 24 and April 28, 2010 Committee Meetings

            On a motion by Director Markey and second by Director Pendergrass, the minutes were received unanimously on a vote of 3 – 0.

 

2.         Provide Direction on Continued Use of District Logo Adopted in February 2010

            Consensus of the committee was that the logo should not be used until the District receives confirmation from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that they have no objections to it.  District staff’s concern is that the EPA WaterSense logo is very similar to the new MPWMD logo.  The committee also directed that if EPA approves the logo, staff should work with District Counsel to trademark it.

 

Discussion Item

3.         Update on Status of Frequently Asked Questions Regarding SWRCB Cease and Desist Order WR 2009-0060

            The committee reviewed the Frequently Asked Questions document and suggested changes.  Staff will revise the document per direction of the committee and post the amended version to the MPWMD website.

 

Other Items

            Ms. Pintar distributed a printout of an updated  MPWMD webpage design that was developed by Bora Kim, the student who developed the new District logo.

The committee agreed to meet on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 4 PM.
