SUMMARY: The Fiscal Year (FY) 2013-2014 Budget includes funds to replace the existing Ford F-150 (Unit #7) truck this fiscal year.  This truck is over 17 years old and needs to be replaced. Coincidentally, the truck became inoperable this year due to engine problems.  Due to the age of the truck, it is not economically desirable to repair this truck.

The District is part of the Ford Fleet Program which provides incentives in price break.  Staff solicited bids from 2 different Ford vendors which are attached as Exhibit 5-A.  The vehicle provided in the proposals meets all specifications of the District.  The prices are summarized in the following table:

Vendor

Vehicle

Amount

Cypress Coast Ford

2014 Ford F-150 4X4 Truck

$20,040.00 plus tax & fee

Salinas Valley Ford

2014 Ford F-150 4X4 Truck

$21,335.67 plus tax & fee

RECOMMENDATION:  Staff recommends that the Board authorize expenditure of funds to purchase 2014 Ford F-150 truck from Cypress Coast Ford at a not-to-exceed price of $22,500.  The Administrative Committee considered this item on April 14, 2014 and voted __ to __ to recommend ___________.

BACKGROUND:  The Fiscal Year 2013-2014 Budget includes $25,000 for the replacement of 1997 Ford F-150 (Unit #7) truck that became inoperable this year due to engine problems.  Staff has determined that it is not economically feasible to repair the truck, as this truck was already on the replacement schedule, and funds to replace the truck were included in the 2013-2014 Budget.
