SUMMARY: On September 6, 2013, Public Water Now delivered to the Water Management District its petition for an initiative measure titled, “The Monterey Peninsula Water Service Local Ownership and Cost Savings Initiative.” In preparation for inquiries from the media and public on the District’s response to the initiative petition, the Public Outreach Committee requested that a position statement be presented to the full Board for consideration. A draft position statement had not been prepared in time for inclusion in this Board packet. The draft position statement will be distributed at the September 16, 2013 Board meeting.
