SUMMARY: District
bargaining representatives and negotiators for the General Staff Bargaining Unit and Management Staff Bargaining Unit,
represented by United Public Employees of California, Local 792, have agreed upon Side-letter Agreements,
included as Exhibit 10-A and Exhibit 10-B, that extend
the terms of the current contracts for one year, with no additional changes. The unrepresented Confidential Staff
Bargaining Unit has agreed to the same extension (Exhibit 10-C).
The text of the “Term of Agreement” articles in each MOU have been amended identically:
“The term of this Agreement shall remain in full force and effect without change, addition or amendment through June 30, 2012 and shall be renewed thereafter subject to reopening by either party upon written notice to the other party no more than 120 days prior to June 30, 2012 or any June 30 anniversary date thereafter.”
RECOMMENDATION: Approve by motion the Side-letter Agreements with the General Staff, Management Staff, and Confidential Staff Bargaining Units (Exhibit 10-A, Exhibit 10-B, and Exhibit 10-C) and authorize the General Manager to sign these labor agreements.
BACKGROUND: On May 9, 2011, the General Staff Bargaining Unit and Management Staff Bargaining Unit, proposed an extension to their current Memorandums of Understanding for one year. The District Board accepted this proposal. On June 24, 2011, the Confidential Staff Bargaining Unit requested an identical extension.
