SUMMARY:    On November 11, 2011, an election is scheduled for directors in voter divisions 3, 4 and 5.   The Monterey County Elections Department requires that a resolution calling for the November 8 election be adopted by the Board of Directors no later than July 6, 2011.

The Elections Department has estimated that the cost to conduct the election will be approximately $168,931.50 or less, depending on the number of entities that consolidate ballot measures for the November 8 election date.  The Board will be asked to authorize funding for the election at the June 20, 2011 meeting.

BACKGROUND:   An election in voter divisions 3, 4 and 5 was last conducted in November 2007.

IMPACT ON STAFF/RESOURCES:  An amount necessary to cover the cost of this District election will be included in the draft Fiscal Year 2011-12 budget, which is scheduled to be reviewed in a Special Board Meeting/Workshop on May 26, 2011.
