SUMMARY:

November 2010

Total System for Month:  Total California American Water (CAW) system production for November was 908 acre-feet (AF), six percent less than the anticipated production of 968 AF, as shown on the accompanying table (Exhibit 30-A).

Total System, Water Year to Date:  Total system production for Water Year (WY) 2011 through November 30, 2010 has been 2,022 AF.

Groundwater Production:  During November, no water was produced from CAW wells in the Upper Carmel Valley, consistent with the zero AF of production was anticipated.  Lower Carmel Valley (LCV) well production was 477 AF, seven percent more than the anticipated production of 447 AF.  In November, 392 AF were produced by CAW from the coastal subareas of the Seaside Basin, 18 percent less than the 480 AF that was anticipated.  Well production from the Laguna Seca subarea of the Seaside Basin which includes Hidden Hills, Bishop and Ryan Ranch water systems was 27 AF, 69 percent more than the 16 AF that was anticipated.  It should be noted that all of the 392 AF of Seaside production represents ASR recovery water from the 1,111 AF that were injected in WY 2010.  Total ASR water recovered for WY 2011 through November 30, 2010 has been 812 AF.

Surface Water Production:  In November, no water was diverted through the Carmel Valley Filter Plant (CVFP) from San Clemente Reservoir, equivalent to the zero AF of production that was anticipated.  The total diversion through the CVFP for WY 2011 has been zero AF.  Average release to the Carmel River from San Clemente Dam during November was 16 cubic feet per second, as measured at the Sleepy Hollow Weir.

The anticipated river flow, storage and production values were developed jointly by the District, CAW, and the California Department of Fish and Game in consultation with the National Marine Fisheries Service.  CAW and District staff are monitoring reservoir storage, inflow and water quality, and will make additional changes as conditions warrant.  Please refer to Exhibit 30-A for additional information regarding CAW production in November 2010.
