SUMMARY:   The Safe, Clean and Reliable Drinking Water Supply Act of 2010 is an $11.14 billion state-wide general obligation bond measure set for the November 2010 ballot.  Attached as Exhibit 3-A is Resolution No. 2010-05 expressing support for the ballot measure.  If approved by the voters, the measure would provide funding for California’s aging water infrastructure and for projects and programs to improve water supply reliability and ecosystem health.  Exhibit 3-B lists the amount of money that would be available from the Act for eligible projects in Monterey County such as water conservation, water recycling, salmonoid restoration; wetlands restoration, watershed protection, vegetation management, drought relief, and groundwater and surface water storage.  If the Board adopts the resolution, a press release will be sent to the Association of California Water Agencies, state legislators and local newspapers.  The resolution will also be posted to the District’s website.

RECOMMENDATION:   District staff recommends adoption of Resolution 2010-05 expressing support for the Safe, Clean and Reliable Drinking Water Supply Act of 2010.
