CARMEL RIVER ADVISORY COMMITTEE

10:00 A.M. Regular Meeting at

  Mid-Carmel Valley Fire Station Community Room

December 6, 2007

 

1.         CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL

MEMBERS PRESENT:   Tom House, John Dalessio, Marjorie Ingram Viales, Susan Rogers, Clive Sanders, Larry Levine

MEMBERS ABSENT:     Richard H. Rosenthal

PUBLIC PRESENT:        Regina Doyle (MPWMD Board Director), Bob Zampatti (representing the Carmel River Steelhead Association)

STAFF PRESENT:           Andy Bell, Thomas Christensen, Larry Hampson

 

2.                  PUBLIC COMMENT  John Dalessio provided a copy of a letter he sent to California American Water Company expressing concern about water quality and rates.

 

3.                  ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE-CHAIR FOR FISCAL YEAR 2007-08     Susan Rogers made a motion to nominate John Dalessio for Chair and Larry Levine for Vice-Chair.  Tom House seconded.  The motion was approved unanimously.

 

4.                  CONSENT CALENDAR - Tom House made a motion to approve the minutes from the June February 28, 2007 Regular Meeting.  Clive Sanders seconded.  The motion was approved unanimously.

 

5.                  UPDATE AND DISCUSSION ON CARMEL RIVER WATERSHED CONSERVANCY (CRWC) ACTIVITIES - Sanders reported on efforts to find funding to conduct a fish passage barrier assessment.  A program for assessing the watershed has been outlined with the help of the Planning and Conservation League Foundation and the Coastal Watershed Council.

 

6.                  STAFF REPORTS  There were no comments by the Committee under this item.

 

7.                  ITEMS TO BE PLACED ON FUTURE AGENDAS

 

Committee members requested that the following items be placed on a future agenda:

 

a.                   Report on Final San Clemente Dam Seismic Safety Project EIR/EIS

b.                  Presentation on regional desalination projects

c.                   Presentation on scour along the Carmel River [Note: MPWMD only recently received a report on 2007 Carmel River survey work and river flows have not been low enough to gather photo documentation.  This item will be deferred to the next Regular CRAC meeting.]

 

8.                              ADJOURNMENT – the meeting was adjourned at 12:03 p.m.
