SUMMARY:  The FY 2007-08 budget includes $9,000 for a modular workstation, computer and other related equipment for a new Conservation Representative I position.  Water Demand Division staff has obtained two quotes for a modular workstation which includes panels, worktables, a file drawer, a locking hutch, all required connectors and brackets and installation.  The quotes from Palace Office Interiors and Peninsula Business Interiors were in the amounts of $4,372.41 and $6,479.78, respectively.  Over the past couple of years, the District has purchased various modular components from Palace Office Interiors and has found them to be of good quality.

RECOMMENDATION:  District staff recommends the purchase of modular workstation components from Palace Office Interiors in the amount of $4,372.41 per quote dated August 14, 2007.

BACKGROUND:  The Fiscal Year 2007-08 budget includes a new Conservation Representative I position to work on conservation related activities.  Funding for the position is to be provided by California American Water out of the 3% conservation surcharge that was authorized in their most recent rate case by the California Public Utilities Commission.  The 2007-08 budget also includes $9,000 for a modular workstation and other related equipment for this new position.
