RESOLUTION NO. 2007-04

 

A Resolution of the Board of Directors

Of the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District

Calling for Board Member Elections on November 6, 2007

Within Voter Divisions 3, 4 and 5

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 10500 et seq. of the Elections Code, the Governing Body of the above named District must call the election to be held on November 6, 2007 for the purpose of electing successors to the terms of office which will expire in 2007, and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 13307 of the Elections Code, it is incumbent upon this Board to determine who will pay the cost of the candidate's statement and to fix the maximum number of words to be submitted; and

 

WHEREAS, for the ease and convenience to the registered voters within this District and in order to take advantage of any possible reduction in election costs, it is desirable that this General District Election be consolidated with any other election to be held on the same day; and

 

WHEREAS, there will be a total of three offices within this District to be filled at said Election, said offices now filled by the following Board Members: 

 

Kristi Markey, Division 3, Four-Year Term

Michelle Knight, Division 4, Four-Year Term

Larry Foy, Division 5, Four-Year Term

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, and ordered by the Board of Directors of the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District that:

 

1.         Pursuant to Section 10500 of the Elections Code, and Section 203 of the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District Law (Chapter 527 of the Statutes of 1977, found at West's Water Code - Appendix, Section 118 - 203) a General District Election shall be held within this District on November 6, 2007 for the purpose of electing one Director from Division 3, one Director from Division 4, and one Director from Division 5 for terms that will expire in 2011; and

 

2.         Pursuant to Section 13307 of the Elections Code, the District has resolved that the candidate shall pay the cost of the candidate's statement.  Said statement shall not exceed 400 words in length; and

 


3.         The candidate shall submit payment to the Elections Department upon submission of the candidate's statement; and

 

4.         This election shall be consolidated with any other elections to be held totally or partially within the boundaries of this District. 

 

On motion of Director ________ and seconded by Director ________, the foregoing resolution is duly adopted this 21st day of May, 2007 by the following votes:
