I.              TOPICS OF DISCUSSION

                OLD BUSINESS

A.      Follow-up on Harris Court Hazards still outstanding from past Inspection Reports. Boxes of file folders from the Seaside Adjudication Trial have been sitting against the wall in the hallway outside of the Water Demand Division for over 6 months.  Team Safety’s inspection report in April asked that they be removed from this area as they were a trip and emergency exit hazard. File folders stacked on the floor of the File Room in the Planning and Engineering Division have been mentioned as housekeeping hazards for the past two years. Promises have been made orally and in written form to dispose of the boxes in both areas.  However, it has been asserted by the responsible Division Manager that other critical priorities have prevented his staff from being able to review the materials in these boxes and determine what can be disposed of, what can be moved to archives, and what should be retained.  He believes that this process is essential before action can be taken.

In the last Team Safety Meeting, it was determined that the General Manager is the only one with the authority to determine priorities.  Team Safety can note hazards and recommend action, but it cannot direct that action be taken.  Therefore, a draft memo should be prepared for the General Manager’s review regarding this issue.

NEW BUSINESS

A.      Welcome to New Team Safety Member:  Michael Boles was welcomed as Team Safety’s newest member.  Michael has been a Conservation Representative in the Water Demand Division for almost two years.

B.       Safety Suggestions:  The new Senior Fisheries Biologist, Kevan Urquhart, noted that the small batteries being charged in the Harris Court garage could prove to be a fire and explosion hazard.  There are two types of batteries, sealed and ventilated.  The charger is running for long periods of time.  Darby Fuerst will research the OSHA standards on this issue.  Kevan also noted that 2 new chemicals are being used at Sleepy Hollow to prevent fish infection.  They will be added to the Chemical Inventory list.  These chemicals need to be stored in a dry cool place.

C.       Upcoming Training:  A new round of CPR/First Aid Training will be scheduled for October. CPR certification must be renewed every year. First Aid certification lasts 3 years.

II.            NEXT TEAM SAFETY MEETING

The next Team Safety Meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, November 28th at 9:15 am, will be devoted to the annual inspection of District Field locations.  This year will begin inclusion of the Seaside ASR well site.
